Cap
Colour highly variable, ranging from grey to yellowish brown, to brown.
Margin
Appendiculate with a narrow sterile band.
Tubes
Adnate.
Pores and Pore Surface
Pore surface grayish staining slightly blue or brown when bruised; pores angular, 1-3 per mm.
Stalk
Nearly equal, weakly reticulate near the apex.
Stalk Feature
Membranous ring.
Flesh
White to pale yellow, staining bluish when cut, sometimes slowly and weakly.
